Assemblyman Blakeslee worked as a research scientist at Exxon’s research lab in Texas, where he received a patent for inventing an innovative technique that used medical cat-scan technology to create detailed images of geologic formations. Assemblyman Blakeslee moved into management and became a Strategic Planner, where he was responsible for creating and managing Exxon budgets.

Personal
Assemblyman Blakeslee is married to Kara. Kara served as project director for the American Land Conservancy and worked with the Hearst corporation and other team members toward the successful completion of the landmark Hearst Ranch conservation project, which created a new thirteen mile (19 km) coastal state park and protected over scenic for habitat preservation and agricultural activities. Assemblyman and Mrs. Blakeslee have three children and live in
San Luis Obispo.
